Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved the sum of N422,179,194.07 as pension and gratuity to 359 local government retirees of the 17 local government councils in the state.
The approval is meant to cover the payment of the 44th batch of retired workers validated to settle families of 89 deceased staff amounting to N125, 264,991.02 and 270 living retirees amounting to N296, 914,203. 05.

According to a statement by the media aide to the governor, Mamman Mohammed, the beneficiaries were carefully screened by the office of the auditor general of the local government to ensure only deserved beneficiaries were paid.
Buni had in February this year paid the sum of N454.2 million as benefits to 276 retired local government workers and 88 deceased.
