Bukuru residents in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State have decried the exclusion of their community from the ongoing installation of street lights within Jos-Bukuru metropolis which is being carried out by the state government.

The residents, who expressed their grievance to Benue/Plateau Trust through Bukuru Unity Forum, said the street lights installation began from Jos town, through Rayfield, and then diverted from Polo Club Junction.

The installation then continued from Bukuru Express to Zawan Junction, thereby excluding the major road in the area, which is where the market and other major businesses are concentrated.

Speaking on the issue, the Chairman of Bukuru Unity Forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, said they were surprised by the boycott, adding that they have always been forthcoming in contributing to the development of the area, Jos South, and the state at large.

He said such maltreatment is unwarranted because Bukuru people are peace-oving and deserve infrastructural and social amenities as any other part of the state.

The chairman called on the government to intervene in the matter to rectify the anomaly.

Efforts to reach the Commisioner of Works, Pam Botmang, were not successful as he did not respond to calls and a text message.
