But the school says the deceased was a student of the university.
The placard-carrying protesters decried the nature of the security architecture of the institution with one of them noting that since the security personnel of the university had no weapon, their presence mostly did not deter perpetrators of evil.
When contacted, the acting President of the Students Union Government (SUG), Auwal Lawal Nadabo, said the peaceful protest was connected to the reports that a BUK student was killed on campus.
Meanwhile, the management of the university, in a statement released by its Secretary of Information and Publication, Lamara Garba, said investigation had revealed that the deceased and the two arrested suspects were in no way connected to the institution.
