The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has held its maiden induction and oath-taking ceremony for the first set of 30 pharmacists.
The graduates will be the first holders of the degree to be inducted in the school by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria. It is seen as a historic achievement by the university.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pharmacist Ahmed Ibrahim Yakasai, while congratulating the graduates, said, “The Pharm. D Curriculum provides pharmacists with specialised clinical training that focuses on the development of professional competencies and confidence in the provision of evidence-based patient-oriented care.
“And as versatile as the pharmacy profession is, you can find opportunities in the academia, community pharmacy practice, hospital pharmacy practice, industrial pharmacy, politics, military and paramilitary.”

On his part, the vice chancellor of the university, Professor Sagir Abbas, while imploring the graduates to uphold the ethical standard of their profession, reminded them that the school had done its part by impacting them positively with the required knowledge.
