BUK Alumni donates N.5m to support indigent students

Bayero University, Kano Alumni class of 1989, has donated N500, 000 to the university for indigent Students’ scholarships to support their education. 

The president of the association, Dr Kabiru Jinjiri Ringim made this known when he led a delegation of members of the association, on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas. 

“In an effort to ensure that those in need are supported, especially in the field of education, we have put in place a variety of programs annually, to cater for such,” Dr Jinjiri said.

In his remark, the Vice Chancellor lauded the association for the gesture. 

Prof. Abbas said the university, taking cognizance of the indigent Students, initiated a scheme on-campus part-time job in which 125 students had been employed in the first instance. 

The Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Management Services, Prof Mahmud Umar Sani, said the initiative was an effort to assist the students, promote their welfare and rid them of financial difficulties, adding that the donation came at a right time.
