A real estate expert, Dr Promise Egwim, has called on the government to ensure stricter measures in granting building approval as part of measures to curb building collapse in the country.
He said, “The section that approves building in Abuja is Development Control, and a lot of people go ahead to build without getting approval, which is why the cases of collapse are on the rise. And I wonder why people go ahead to build and stay in houses without approval.”

Egwim, who is the Managing Director (MD) of Profilled World Homes and Properties, further said, “There is a need for Development Control and other relevant agencies in states to become stricter in granting approval and ensure developers or individuals don’t cut corners in getting the approval. This will go a long way in addressing the building collapse issue.”
He said that in the last three years of real estate investments, Profilled Homes had over 10 project sites in the FCT targeted at providing affordable housing to Nigerians.
