Buhari’s ex-aide hails military over killing of bandits, says Turji is next

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has commended the military over its recent massive operation in Zamfara state, where bandits have wreaked havoc.

Daily Trust had reported how a notorious bandit identified as Kachallah Buzu was gunned down during the operation in Zamfara.

Hours before his death, the bandit whom ZagaZola Makama, counter insurgency expert, described as the boss of Bello Turji, another wanted criminal, had called for massive action against the military.

Numerous bandits were shot dead in the operation which happened on Thursday, Daily Trust understands.

The troops reportedly seized motorcycles and a large cache of weapons. Hideouts of the bandits were also destroyed.

Weighing in on the development, Ahmad, in a post via X on Friday, hailed the military, adding that Turji would be the next victim.

“May God bless the Nigerian troops! Halilu Sububu Buzu, a notorious bandit from Niger Republic who had been terrorizing the good people of Zamfara and its surroundings, met his end at the hands of the gallant Nigerian army.

“By God’s grace, Bello Turji will be next. Nigeria will prevail,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, the chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has said time is ticking against Turji and other criminals as troops are committed to ending insecurity in Zamfara and the North West Zone.

The defence chief stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.
