Buhari wins in Kwara as APC sweeps Senate, Rep seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the presidential election and all National Assembly seats in Kwara State.

APC Presidential Candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) polled 302,146 votes to defeat his People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rival, President Goodluck Jonathan who secured 132,602 votes.

The collation officer for the presidential election and Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Mina, Niger State, Prof. Musbau Akanji announced the result at INEC headquarters in the state,

According to him, total number of registered voters was 1,181,032 while 489,360 were accredited and the total number of valid votes were 440,080.

Prof Akanji said 21,321 votes were rejected while total number of votes cast were  461,401.

The APC also won in the three senatorial districts of Central, South and North as well as six House of Representatives seats which include Ilorin West/Asa; Ilorin East/South; Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun; Baruten/Kaiama; Patigi/Edu/Moro and Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero federal constituencies.

The state APC leader and former Governor Bukola Saraki was re-elected for Kwara Central ditto Senator Shaaba Lafiagi for Kwara North while a current Reps member representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun was elected as Senator for Kwara South.

In the House of Reps, Hon. Zakari Mohammed and Ahman Patigi were re-elected for Baruten/Kaiama and Patigi/Edu/Moro constituencies respectively.

Current Speaker of the House of Assembly, Barrister Razaq Atunwa was elected for Ilorin West/Asa constituency while Former Minister of Youth and former Minister of State for Health during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, Princess Funke Adedoyin was declared winner for Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero.
