* says no ethnic nationality has monopoly over Presidency, other offices
The presiding Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, on Sunday reassured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari will not fail them.
He stated this during his annual state of the nation address to commemorate the nation’s 59th independence anniversary.
In his address titled: “Resetting the nation on the path of predictable progress,” he said the Office of the President can be contested by anybody irrespective of the ethnic nationality he comes from.
He also called for the adoption of a zonal security system which scraps the Nigeria Police Force and replace it with Zonal Police Force.
Pastor Bakare, who was Vice Presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 election also prayed fervently for President Muhammadu Buhari, saying, “President Buhari will not fail.”
However, he said it is high time the nation stopped ethnic and mutual suspicion, noting that the office of the President is not the exclusive preserve of any ethnic nationality.
“No ethnic nationality has monopoly on any of the offices,” he declared.
The cleric added: “This is no time for mutual suspicion, there should be collaboration. The infighting must stop. Nigeria is going through a resetting on the path of predictable progress.”
According to him, Nigeria today is clearly underperforming and lacking in national cohesion.
He said it is time to return to the foundation of the country, adding, “It is time to rebuild and reset and rebuilding has to be done zone by zone.”
