President Muhammadu Buhari has warned members of the governing boards of agencies and parastatals against undue interference, generating rancour and acrimony over awards of contracts, saying the government would not tolerate such.
President Buhari gave the warning on Tuesday in Abuja while inaugurating the boards of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), and the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST).

Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, inaugurated the 44-member boards, calling for national interest on the part of board members.
He said awards of contracts had nothing to do with their mandate, urging them to carry out their responsibilities based on the acts establishing the agency and the commission, as well as that of NIPOST.
