President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to approve the issuance of promissory notes totaling over N402bn.
The request was contained in separate letters read yesterday by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

In the first letter, Buhari requested approval of N375bn to settle outstanding claims owed various exporters.
Other similar debts repayment requests, to be routed through the Debt Management Office, are N6.706bn and N2.706bn for Kebbi and Taraba state governments respectively as refunds for the construction of federal roads.
Buhari also sought approval to issue N18.623bn as promissory note to the Yobe State Government for five federal road projects executed by the state.
In another communication to the Senate, Buhari sought the confirmation of the nomination of Mohamed Sabo Lamido for appointment the Executive Commissioner, Finance and Accounts of the Board of Upstream Regulatory Commission.
Lamido’s nomination, according to the president, was necessitated by the death of Hassan Gambo who hitherto served in that capacity.
