Buhari mourns Mangal

President Muhammadu Buhari has described the death of Alhaji Bashir Mangal, the Chief Executive Officer of Max Airlines and brother of business mogul, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal, as a loss for the country.

The president, in a condolence message delivered on Saturday by his delegation led by Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, said the deceased was an indomitable businessman.

He said, “He was full of life and very courteous. He leaves behind an indelible contribution to the aviation world. He was also a very organised administrator. The nation and its business community have lost a gem. My condolences to his family and friends, the Katsina Emirate and the government and the people of the state.”

President Buhari, in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Meanwhile, on a good note, Buhari has sent congratulations and best wishes to Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Governor of Kano State, on his 73rd birthday.

The president, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, commended the governor for his leadership and administrative acumen and wished him a happy birthday.

Buhari also saluted Ganduje for his work on security and infrastructure, describing him as the builder of “a secure and prosperous Kano State.”

He urged the governor to continue giving importance to the welfare of the poor alongside development.

The presidential spokesman said Ganduje marks his 73rd birthday today, December 25, and that his wife, Professor Hafsat, would mark hers on December 28.
