Buhari mourns former Kano Justice Commissioner, Aliyu Umar

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined the government and people of Kano State in mourning former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Alhaji Aliyu Umar, who passed on Friday.

The president, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja on Friday, acknowledged Aliyu’s sacrifices, dedication and commitment to the pursuit of justice in the country.

The President commiserated with family members of the erudite lawyer, Nigerian Bar Association and all professional colleagues, especially in the public service.

He affirmed that the deceased dedicated his life and intellect to the service of the country and humanity.

According to him, Umar’s investment of time and resources in handling some of the most sensitive criminal cases in the country will always be remembered.

President Buhari also noted that his willingness to prosecute for benefit of the state and downtrodden had left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s justice system.

The President prayed that the Almighty God would grant the departed a peaceful rest and comfort his family. (NAN)
