In attendance are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari; Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; National Security Adviser, retired Major General Babagana Monguno; Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff; Lieutenant-General Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amoo; and Director General, Department of State Services (DSS) Yusuf Bichi.

The meeting, where Buhari is also receiving Security Briefing from Service Chiefs, is also being attended by Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

This is the first security meeting after the President returned to Abuja last Friday after 18 days in London, during which he attended an education summit and did health checks.

On Tuesday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said the security forces had in the past few weeks taken the battle more robustly to insurgents, bandits, and all other criminals troubling the country as they are now surrendering in droves.

Adesina said the President would be brought up to speed on developments at today’s meeting, while plans to bring a decisive end to the challenges would be formulated.
