President Muhammadu Buhari is determined and committed to the welfare of youth in the country, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko said in Sokoto on Monday.
He said that the APC and its government have Nigerian youth at heart.
“No nation can play with the plight of its youth because it has an adverse consequences. Let me say it clearly, that APC has Nigeria youth at its heart and President Muhammadu Buhari is determined and committed to your welfare, safety, progress and future,” he assured them
The former Governor spoke at the flag-off of training of 400 unemployed youths from the 23 local governments of the state which he sponsored.
According to him, the President has so far done well in fulfilling his campaign promises to Nigerians.
“He promised to fight corruption, addressing unemployment and security challenges and we can all attest to the fact that he has done well and he will continue to do more,” he said
He added that the programme was inline with the manifesto of their party and part of his modest efforts to give back to the society because he was trained with the public fund.
Senator Wamakko who is representing Sokoto Central senatorial zone, said that he had in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) trained 800 youth in various skills and they would be provided with take up fund this coming weekend.
He added that another 50,000 youth would be trained by the agency in the next few months.
He explained that the 400 youths would be trained on closed circuit television installation and maintenance; car tracker installation and maintenance; smoke detector installation and maintenance and auto dialer construction and maintenance for three weeks.
The beneficiaries, he said include NCE and diploma holders among others.
Also speaking, the deputy Governor of the state, Ahmed Aliyu urged the beneficiaries to remain focus and pay attention to what they would be taught.
Aliyu who is the Governorship candidate of APC, commended the former Governor for sponsoring the programme.
