President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday received retired Gen. T. Y. Danjuma at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The agenda of the closed door meeting between President Buhari and Danjuma was not known.
Danjuma did not speak to State House reporters after the meeting.
Daily Trust, however, learned that the duo discussed issues of security and socio-economic development at domestic and sub-regional level.
The two former military chiefs met again after over three years.
It would be recalled that Buhari appointed retired General Danjuma to head the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI) whose activities had been taken over by the management of the newly constituted North East Development Commission (NEDC) now chaired by retired Major General Paul Tarfa to address the challenges facing the people of the north east region.
However, the retired general later became a vocal critic of the Buhari administration’s handling of security matters in his home state of Taraba, and the North-central region of the country, especially the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers in the country.
Meanwhile, President Buhari also held closed doors meeting with the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.
Akpabio also refused to speak on the outcome of his meeting with the President.
