The president, in a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, described him as one of Nigeria’s success stories “since the beginning of the recent democratic journey.”
Buhari stated, “I am proud of Shettima for his achievements in office as one of the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) best governors in the country. He was able to make his mark despite the challenges of insecurity. He proved his mettle and didn’t disappoint the electorate because he was able to fulfill his key campaign promises.
“One of the great things for which Senator Shettima would be remembered is the fact that he handed the state over to a competent and a worthy successor, Prof Babagana Zulum.”
