In attendance were the president’s family members, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Major-General Babagana Monguno, Chief of Staff to the president, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and other presidential aides.

President Buhari had on May 9 again announced a ban on traditional Sallah homage Aso Rock by religious, community and political leaders.

The President, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, encouraged such leaders to be content with modest celebrations at home in view of the COVID-19 pandemic as was the case last year.
