The appointment of the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Danbatta has been extended by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy has announced.
This is contained in a statement by Uwa Sulaiman, spokesperson for the Minister Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ibrahim Pantami on Friday.
The statement revealed that President Buhari approved the reappointment of the NCC boss upon recommendation by the Ministry in line with the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003 “to consolidate the gains made in the telecommunications sector in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy”.
“Professor Danbatta’s reappointment was based on the recommendation of the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami), FNCS, FBCS, FIIM, in line with the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003” the statement reads in part.
Danbatta was appointed by President Buhari four years ago.
