Buhari congratulates Emir of Daura, AGF over children’s marriage

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, and the Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, over the successful marriage ceremony of their children.

Muhammad Daha Umar Faruk and Maimuna Ahmed Idris, children of Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk and Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, respectively were on Saturday joined in matrimony.

President Buhari, in a message delivered on his behalf by a delegation to Kano State led by the Minister of Defence, retired Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi, congratulated the parents of the new couple.

The president, in a statement issued yesterday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, said his sincere blessings and good wishes will remain with the newly-wedded.

President Buhari, who prayed for peace, harmony and prosperity in the home of the couple, appreciated their kind invitation.

The Ministers of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu; Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity), Garba Shehu, were also on the delegation.

Maimuna, the bride, was given out in marriage by the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, while the groom, Muhammed Daha, who is also the Dan Buram Daura, was represented by Magajin Garin Daura, Alhaji Musa Umar.

In a homily, the Chief Imam of the Kano Central Mosque, Prof. Sani Zahraddeen, who contracted the marriage at the Palace of the Emir of Kano, admonished the couple to respect each other and warned the community against maltreatment of women.
