The Senate has received a formal request from President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Farouk Yahaya.
The request, which was contained in a letter, was read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Tuesday.

Buhari urged the Senate to consider and approve his requests in the usual expeditious manner.
President Buhari appointed Major General Yahaya the COAS following the death of Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru in May.
