BUA Cement Plc, yesterday announced that it would commission its three million metric tons (MT) Sokoto Line 4 cement plant and 48 megawatts (MW) power plant today.
The group Chairman of BUA, AbdulSamad Rabiu announced the commissioning on the group’s official LinkedIn page.
According to him, the event would also see the ground-breaking of the three million metric ton line 5 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall that the company had at the end of 2020 announced the construction of 3 cement plants in Edo, Sokoto and Adamawa and to be handled by Sinoma CBMI of China.
The plants when completed would bring BUA’s production capacity to 20m tonnes per annum from the current 11m tonnes it produces.
Speaking, the Chairman of BUA, AbdulSamad Rabiu stated that Nigeria and its surrounding region have huge opportunities in construction, housing, infrastructure, and allied industries.
“Despite these opportunities, there is no doubt that there is still a huge deficit in supply while demand continues to increase in Nigeria.”
He however said to bridge the deficit gap in Nigeria, “we have taken this decision to invest and build these new plants at a total project cost of 1.05 billion dollars, which will be completed by the end of 2022.”
Rabiu, while announcing the commissioning on the group’s official LinkedIn page added that the event would also see the ground-breaking of the three million metric tonnes line 5 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
