Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Chairman of BUA Group, has initiated the construction of the N250 million Abdul Samad Rabiu Admin Block and a conference room at the Al-Qalam University in Katsina State.
The project is being undertaken by the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) within the university’s premises.
ASR Africa previously announced its 2023 Tertiary Education Grant Scheme (TEGS) in 2022, covering 22 tertiary institutions in Nigeria, with Al-Qalam University being one.
At the groundbreaking ceremony held on the university campus, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nasiru Musa Yauri, praised Abdul Samad Rabiu and BUA Group for selecting his institution for the grant and emphasised the project’s significance as a priority need for the university.

The VC disclosed that the university planned to launch its College of Allied Health Sciences in the 2023/2024 academic year, thus necessitating the need for a suitable infrastructure.
Dr Ubon Udoh, the Managing Director of ASR Africa, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to supporting quality education in Nigeria and Africa.
He commended the university’s management for their cooperation and assured them of the project’s speedy completion within six months.
