A high court in Lagos on Tuesday ordered that a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver, Andrew Ominnikoron, be remanded in a correctional centre for raping and murdering his passenger, Ms. Oluwabamise Ayanwole.
The Lagos State Government charged Ominnikoron with conspiracy, murder and rape.
Justice Sherifat Sonaike ordered that the defendant be remanded in the correctional centre in Ikoyi and adjourned the case to May 9.

Earlier, the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Dr Jide Martins, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 25, 2021, and February 26, at the Lekki Conservation Centre, Lekki-Ajah Expressway and on Carter Bridge, Lagos.
The DPP said on February 26, the defendant conspired with others still at large raped and killed a 22-year-old BRT passenger and threw her out of a moving bus. (NAN)
