British Council’s future leaders winners share their experiences

Winners of British Council’s Future Leaders Connect Global Programme in the United Kingdom in 2017 have shared their experiences saying they have learnt the importance of youth in nation building.

The winners include, Hauwa Liman, Oladotun Olatunji, Seun Tuyo, Nwamaka Chidera Ogbonna, Olaoluwa Abagun and Blessing Omakwu.
Sharing her experience to journalists at British Council Abuja, on Tuesday one of the winners, Hauwa Liman said that no country would develop without youth.
“I realized the importance of youth in building any nation. I also realized that nations that tried to invest on youth have achieved a lot in development”. She said
Another winner, Ms Olaoluwa Abagun said that the programme had broadened her mind and increased her experience.
“I realised that we are young leaders from different countries but we shared the same thing in command”. She said
Speaking earlier, the British Council Head of Communication, Edemekong Uyoh said that the gesture was to open their minds and give them opportunity globally.
She said that the winners were exposed to the House of Parliament in the UK and learnt international expertise to support their policies development in their countries.
According to her, the winners have made huge strides on their projects, following the learning received at the global meet.
British Council said that the six outstanding winners who were selected from over 4,000 youth had gone through an intensive programme while in the United Kingdom.
The winners had joined over 50 other representatives from Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tunisia, United Kingdom and the United States.
They attended a number of work sessions, debates and socialization meeting aimed at developing their skills and would generate positive change in their countries.
