Britain never abandoned Nigeria – Envoy

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Paul Arkwright, has denied allegations that his country had abandoned Nigeria, saying there were plans to double the trade volume between the two countries which is currently put at £4.2 billion annually.
He said yesterday after meeting officials of the Sokoto Investment Company that Britain had however slipped behind some other countries on trade and investment in Nigeria.
The envoy added that the current volume of trade relationship is to reach £8 billion by 2030.
Earlier, the chairman of the company, Alhaji Tukur Umar Yabo, urged the envoy to help showcase the potentials of the state in his country.
