Brig. Halliru Akilu mourns late Osun monarch

A renowned retired military officer, Brigadier General Halliru Akilu, has mourned with the families and friends of late Prince Alhaji Olayiwola Sumonu (Usman) Kusamotu, who passed away on Friday, 11 March, 2022.

Sumonu, a prince from Ikirun, Osun State, was the son of Kusamotu Oyewole II, who was the Akinrun of Ikirun.

The retired military officer, in a condolence message to the family and general public, described the death of Kusamotu as a monumental loss to his immediate family, friends and the society in general.

“Alhaji, as we fondly called him, died when his warms and care are greatly needed by both his wife, children and close relations. However, Allah the Almighty knows the best.”

“Nigerians will ever remember this highly distinguished and disciplined lawyer whose contributions to the legal profession and Nigeria in general will remain with us in gold,” he said.

He prayed for his gentle soul to rest in peace and also pray for Almighty Allah bestow all members of his family with inner strength to bear the irreparable loss.
