Bricklayer jailed 2 years for stealing inside Kwara court

A 28-year-old bricklayer, Wasiu Mukaila, has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing a motorcycle from the Kwara State High Court premises.

Earlier, the police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the defendant came out of a court where he was standing trial for a similar case when he perpetrated the act.

The FIR reads in part: “Investigation revealed that Mukaila was recently granted bail in a similar case and he specialises in stealing motorcycles within the Ilorin metropolis.”

The prosecutor told the court that the defendant confessed to the crime and also led the police to one Ahmadu Dan Asebe who normally bought stolen items from him.

The Magistrate, Hafusat Alege, released Asebe on bail but slammed two years imprisonment on Mukaila without any option of fine.
