Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to the National Assembly is for the purpose of launching the old National Anthem, “Nigeria We Hail Thee.”
He said the bill reverting Nigeria to the old National Anthem as passed by both chambers of the National Assembly was signed into law by the president earlier on Wednesday.
He said the president will not be delivering an address to the joint session of the National Assembly as earlier announced.
The president was being ushered into the chamber at the time of filing this report.
Tinubu arrived the chamber in company of his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and other presidential aides.
Upon his arrival, the old National Anthem, Nigeria We Hail Thee, was sang.
Also at the chamber to witness the joint session include the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Borno State governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum; former deputy Speaker Patricia Etteh; former lawmakers.
