President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate slash of travel expenditure of all government officials, including Presidency, by 60%.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, made the announcement on Tuesday while briefing State House reporters at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said this was part of cost cutting measures of the Presidency.
According to him, while the number of persons to travel with the President on local trips has now been cut down to 25, those to go with him on foreign engagements has also been cut down to 20 persons.
The number of personnel to escort the Vice President, First Lady and the wife of the Vice President have also been cut down considerably.
Also, the directive has reduced the number of persons to accompany a minister on a foreign trip to four, while it cut the number for a head of federal agency to two persons.
Daily Trust learnt that all ministers and heads of federal agencies had already been notified of the new standards from the President as circulars had already been issued to the effect by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
