Protesters seeking Ado Bayero’s return troop to Kano streets

A fresh round of protest has broken out in Kano amid tussle for the throne.

Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II and Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, dethroned Emir of Kano, are locked in a battle for the royal stool.

Around 4pm on Sunday, young persons marched to the streets to demand a return of the dethroned monarch.

Some of them lit bonfire on the major road as they marched chanting anti-government songs.

Our correspondents saw policemen on ground but they did not attempt to disperse the protesters.

The protesters trooped out after observing a special prayer session.

Some of them had placards with inscriptions such as: “Abba Kabir Yusuf, Obey Court order”, “Court Brought You”, “You Must Obey The Court”, “Aminu Is Still Our Emir”, “We Are Against Injustice”

Daily Trust had reported how some protesters filed out in Gaya, one of the disbanded emirates, on Sunday morning.
