Police Arrest Protesters At Lekki Tollgate

The Police have arrested some #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters in Lagos State.

The protesters had stormed the tollgate over its repossession by the Lekki Concession Company (LCC).

The tollgate has been without control since the shooting incident of October 20, 2020.

But last week, the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the #EndSARS crisis ordered that LCC should take control of the facility.

This had triggered outrage and some persons vowed to protest against the verdict of the panel.

However, both the federal and Lagos State Governments warned people against staging any protest over the issue.

The Police subsequently deployed officers to the scene and on Saturday morning some of those who defied the warning were arrested.

A witness said 10 persons were arrested but Daily Trust cannot independently verify this claim.

Abiodun Sanusi, one of the organisers of the protest, told Daily Trust that a total of 14 persons have been arrested.

He identified some of the arrested persons as: Damilare Adenola, Juwon Sanyaolu and Ayoyinka Oni.
