Non-availability of Order Paper force Reps to adjourn plenary

The House of Representatives has been forced to adjourn its plenary on Thursday as a result of the non-availability of Order Paper for the day’s legislative business.

The Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, who was visibly angry, said he would hold all the staff responsible for the failure of the Order Paper to be produced for Thursday’s plenary.

The Order paper is a publication containing the order of bills, motions, reports and meetings to be treated on a legislative day.

Before the adjournment, the Speaker lamented that despite the fact that, the House sits at 11:00 am, there were only a few lawmakers present at the chamber.

He added that, to his astonishment, the Order Paper was not also available for the day’s business to start.

The Speaker, therefore, called for adjournment of the plenary to Tuesday, February 8th, 2022.

Peter Akpatason (APC, Edo) moved a motion for the adjournment and was seconded.
