Nigeria’s female team has clinched gold medal in the 400 meters relay race at the ongoing Commonwealth games in Birmingham, UK.
The team comprised of Tobi Amusan, who had earlier won gold in the 100 meter race, Rosemary Chukwuma, Grace Nwokocha and Favour Ofili.

The quartet set a new African record with a time of 42.10 seconds.
With the feat of the female relay team, Nigeria has equalled its best ever championship record.
At the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada, Team Nigeria won 11 gold medals. No other Nigerian team has been able to match that record.
Weightlifter Adijat Olarinoye won the first gold for Nigeria at the ongoing games which has a total of 38 competing countries.
The event which started on July 28 is expected to end on August 8.
