The two abducted Councillors of Safana Local government area in Katsina have finally regained freedom after spending 26 days in captivity, Daily Trust reports.
The Councillors, Hussaini Wanzam ( finance) and Bishir Dan Jikko (water and sanitation) were abducted on their way to Batsari town after close of work. The captives later place a N50 million ransom for both.
Daily Trust gathered that some monies parted ways before their release as sources privy to the development said.
However, the chairman of Safana local government council, Abba Safana while confirming their release was silent on whether ransom was paid or not.
He said, what matters most was that they have been released and presently being examined at the hospital before they will be reunited with their families later today.
