Fire has razed down the old automobiles spare parts Market Awada, Onitsha in Anambra state.
The Market caught fire at around 1.30 am on Saturday.
There was no record of death in the fire outbreak as there was nobody in the complex at the time of the outbreak.
Confirming the fire outbreak, the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed, said “today 11/1/2020 at about 01:30:am, there was a fire outbreak at old automobiles spare parts Market Awada, Onitsha.”
According to him, following the distress call, Police patrol team, led by DPO of Awada Division CSP Tony Adeyi, rushed to the scene and alerted the fire service department and other emergency units which also responded promptly and put off the fire.
He said the area had been cordoned off by the Police to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation to loot.
He also stated that one person, whose identity is yet be confirmed, collapsed and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
According to him, the cause of the fire and value of property destroyed by the fire were yet to be ascertained.
