A Yola High Court has vacated its order that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from concluding the governorship election in the state.
The suit was filed by the candidate of the Movement for Restoration and Defence of Democracy (MRDD), Eric Theman, over the missing of the party’s logo on the ballot papers.
The presiding judge, Justice Abdul-azeez Waziri, issued an order stopping the INEC from going ahead with the supplementary election pending the determination of the case.

However, the court has now vacated the order and a new date will be set by the INEC for the supplementary election in the state.
The governorship election, held 9th March, was declared inconclusive by the Returning Officer, Professor Andrew Haruna on the grounds that the margin of lead between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ahmadu Fintiri, who scored higher votes and his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart, Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla was less than the total number of registered voters in 44 polling units where election was cancelled.
