Senator Godswill Akpabio of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost his senatorial seat to Christopher Ekpenyong of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last Saturday’s National Assembly election.

This was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the Returning Officer, Prof Peter Ogban, at INEC office in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

According to Prof. Ogban, Akpabio got 83,158 votes and was defeated by PDP’s Ekpenyong who polled 118,215 votes.

Akpabio, who was a former governor of Akwa Ibom state and former minority leader in the Senate represented Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.
