Your Excellency, permit me to use this medium to draw your attention to the lugubrious situation bedeviling us in the Katagum Local Government Area on account of shutdown of our BRC Radio FM, Azare.

This state-owned radio FM station is a very enlightening and efficacious pedagogical tool for rural communities.

Sir, on the mid-night of 1st February, 2021, unknown people broke into the station and stole the 200kva generator (MP60).

The station is currently not operating because there is no electricity. Thousands of this station’s listeners are worried over the loss of the generator.

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, this FM radio station has tirelessly been increasing awareness of the listeners on how to keep themselves safe from the virus.

Indeed, for the rural communities, the radio is regarded as  a top-tier means of communicating to them.

As the government starts the process of vaccinating Nigerians against COVID-19, this FM radio station will definitely play a central role in enlightening rural dwellers about its significance.

Additionally sir, the station is playing a very important role in educating the people on the need to engage in agriculture and the various modern farming methods, through drama and discussion programmes.

It also airs programmes that enhance understanding between farmers and herders, thereby bringing peace to various communities.

Sadly, we witnessed the World Radio Day, which was observed on 13th February without any celebration due to lack of the generator.

Sir, permit me to remind you that as we are approaching the holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims will be enthusiastic to listen to various kinds of  preaching by scholars, it would help if the station is put back on air.

This radio is the only option for staying in touch with rural people. I therefore appeal to you sir, to help wipe away our tears by providing a generator for our radio FM station.
