NAN learnt that the boy and his mother came from Bauchi during the week for a wedding billed for Friday and Saturday.

The boy’s uncle, Mr Donald Aleyideino, told NAN that the boy went with his mother to the nearby Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA), venue of the wedding, when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Aleyideino said the boy must have sneaked out of the church before falling into the nearby river which had over-flown its banks.

Aleyideino who did not give the boy’s name, said he reported the matter at the nearby police station and the state Fire Service which later came for a search and rescue operation in the river.

A Senior Fire Officer, Mr Yenling Longknan, told NAN that they were still searching for the boy in the river.
