Boy commits suicide after he was accused of stealing money

A 17-year-old boy, Ojibe Chibueze, has allegedly committed suicide after being accused of stealing money from his boss in the Elemoro area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

 The deceased was accused of stealing his boss’s N100,000.

 City & Crime learnt that the deceased allegedly drank sniper, when he discovered that the information of the theft had been made public.

 Confirming the report, the Lagos Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the boy returned from work on Monday, February 11, rushed in and took some money and went out.

 Hundeyin said few hours later, the deceased’s master called her sister and informed her that her brother stole N100,000 from his shop.

 He said the deceased’s sister then went to Elemoro Police Station to lodge a complaint when her brother did not return home, until she received a phone call from their neighbour that she saw her brother lying dead at Abijo bus stop.

 The deceased’s sister, Cynthia, however rushed to the scene and met her brother’s lifeless body with a plastic of sniper beside him.

 Hundeyin added that the it was presumed that the deceased drank the sniper, which led to his death.

 He said on the receipt of the information, detectives from the division visited the scene and saw foam gushing out of his mouth and nose, adding that the can of the sniper has been retrieved as an exhibit.

 He said the corpse had been evacuated from the scene and deposited at the Epe General Hospital’s mortuary.
