The Borno State Flood Disaster Relief Distribution Committee, chaired by Engr Baba Bukar Gujbawu, has verified over 55,000 households for relief distribution over the past three weeks.
The verification process covered several communities, including Gwange 1, Limanti, Shehuri North, Shehuri South, Bulabulin, Gamboru, Galtimari, Lamisula and Goni Damgari in Bolori II, ensuring that flood victims receive both food and non-food items.
Speaking in Maiduguri, Gujbawu said the Borno State Social Investment Agency has been authorised to commence cash disbursements to verified flood victims in specific areas, such as Limanti, Gwange 1, Bulabulin, and Shehuri South.
“We have verified over 55,000 households in nine wards across Maiduguri Metropolitan, Jere and Mafa local government areas,” Gujbawu said, confirming the ongoing disbursement process.

In addition to cash support, approximately 40,000 households in eight communities have already received food and non-food relief materials.
The committee has so far distributed aid to Limanti, Shehuri North, Shehuri South, Bulabulin, Gamboru, Galtimari, Lamisula, and Goni Damgari.
Gujbawu also revealed that N12 billion out of the pledged N17 billion from government entities, non-governmental organisations, philanthropists, and corporate bodies had been received to aid relief efforts.
He said verification is still ongoing in Maisandari and parts of Tamsu Ngamdua, with areas such as Mashamari, Maimusari, Gwange II, and Gwange III yet to be covered.
Gujbawu reassured that all affected households will be thoroughly assessed and verified to ensure comprehensive relief distribution.
