Borno to revoke outdated land titles

The Borno State government has asked land title holders in Maiduguri to update their records and develop or submit building plans before December 31 or risk revocation.

The Executive Secretary of Borno Geographic Information Service (BOGIS), Engr Adam Bababe, gave the warning in a statement yesterday.

He said, “BOGIS Pilot scheme issued notices since June 2020 that the government shall revoke all titles that fail to update their records, develop/submit building plans by 31st of December 2023.

“This notice aligns with the Land Use of 1978 and Borno Land Use Regulations 2022, which mandate the documentation of all landed properties within the state.

“Individuals concerned are urged to approach the agency to perfect their documents to prevent government revocation of their lands.”
