Borno to hire more midwives

The Borno State Government will recruit 20 nurses, midwives and other health workers to meet the manpower demands at the Maryam Abacha Maternal Hospital, Maiduguri.
A solar power system will also be installed at the Gwange Maternity Health Centre to improve the safe water supply.
Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum gave the approval on Thursday when he visited the two hospitals to monitor the implementation of the ongoing health sector reforms being done to address challenges across the State.
While at Maryam Abacha Maternal Hospital, he also ordered the construction of permanent quarters for doctors and other health workers.
The governor directed the Ministry of Health to roll out modalities for the procurement of additional maternal drugs and consumables towards increased support for pregnant women under a free maternal healthcare service.
