Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, Sunday supervised the distribution of food aid to returnees in Garade, Marte Local Government Area.

Marte was one of the insurgents’ strongholds deserted by the inhabitants before it was liberated by the Nigerian military and the Multinational Joint Taskforce.

Displaced residents started returning to Marte from Dikwa, Monguno and Maiduguri on the 30th of November 2020.

A total of 2,870 returnees from 500 households constituted the first batch of returnees to take shelter from the rehabilitated Chad Basin Development Authority (CBDA) quarters, after a request to the Managing Director by the state government.
