Borno State Ministry of Health has confirmed three positive cases of Monkey Pox from Biu and Gwoza Local Government Areas of the State.
State Director of Public Health Dr Lawi Auta Mshelia who disclosed this to newsmen in Maiduguri said that samples of the four suspected cases were collected and taken to National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) laboratory in Abuja and three returned positive for Monkey Pox.

Mshelia explained that the first suspected case was reported two weeks ago, adding, “Out of the four suspected samples two were returned positive from Gwoza LGA and another positive case for Biu LGA while one sample returned negative from NCDC Laboratory Biu.”
He however noted that all the three positive patients have been responding to treatment and are almost due to be discharged.
