Borno bans political hooliganism, weapons

The Borno State government Friday said unauthorized persons caught bearing weapons including bladed and sharp objects will be prosecuted.

The government also banned any form of disruptive and violent behaviour by political and youth groups in the state.

Commissioner for Youth, Sport and Empowerment, Sa’inna Buba, made this known at a media conference in Maiduguri.

He said Governor Babagana Umara Zulum had alongside the Commissioner of Police, Director, Department of State Services and the Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps met with various youth leaders following the surge in youth violence and clashes in Maiduguri.

He said the government will continue to pay monthly allowances to unemployed youth in the state, adding that the sum of N2bn was spent in the last two years.
