Borno APC confirms suspension of Kumalia over anti-party activities

The Borno State chapter of the APC has confirmed the suspension of Barrister Mohammed Umara Kumalia, a former member of the House of Representatives, from the party over anti-party activities.

A letter signed by the APC Secretary of Limanti Ward, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Mohammed Kagu, announcing Kumalia’s suspension made the rounds on social media.

But Kumalia, in a statement on Tuesday, dismissed his suspension, claiming that he tendered his resignation letter to the party’s leadership on March 21, 2022.

But reacting to Kumalia’s purported letter of resignation, the Borno APC yesterday insisted that the party did not receive any letter from him.

The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Makinta Zarami, in a letter addressed to Kumalia, said the former lawmaker’s resignation letter making the rounds on social media was not only backdated but a fake claim far from the truth.

Daily Trust further reports that Kumalia’s faceoff with the APC leadership in the state began when he challenged the outcome of the party’s 2018 governorship primary in court after he lost the ticket to Babagana Umara Zulum.
