The newly appointed Mai Kanuribe, the ambassador of Borno empire in Kano State, Mai Mustapha Lawan, has paid an allegiance visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.
The visit, according to him, was to officially present himself to the palace as the first appointed ambassador in the state, as conferred on him recently by the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar El-Kanemi.
Mai Lawan is to represent the Shehu and serve as representative of the palace in Kano, as well as serve as a link between Kano and Kanem Borno emirates.
Speaking while receiving the delegation, Emir Bayero described the appointment as a positive development and called on him to work hard in uniting Borno people residing in Kano.
The emir said the history of the relationship between the two emirates dated back into centuries and called on the new Mai Kanuribe to work towards making it even stronger.
In his remarks, Mai Mustapha Lawan, who also doubles as Chairman, Kanuri Association in Kano, said there are approximately two million Borno State indigenes living in Kano State.
