Book Aid Int’l appoints Nigerian Board member

Book Aid International, a UK-based non-political charity that donates books to libraries around the world, has appointed a Nigerian, Dr Victoria Okojie, as a member of its Governing Board.

Okojie was a former President of the Nigerian Library Association and a former Registrar of the Librarians Registration Council (LRCN).

In a letter dated September 18 inviting Dr Okojie to join the Board, the Chair of BAI, Dr Alice Prochaska, said she was convinced that Dr Okojie’s membership will add value to the laudable objectives of BAI.

“As a board member, Dr Okojie is expected to help shape the future direction of the charity, contributing ideas, opinions and feedback that will help BAI take key decisions about its programmes and the support it can offer to its partners going forward,” part of the letter read.

BAI members assist in book selection, project development, logistics, campaigns and advocacy, among others.

Reacting to the appointment, Okojie said she was delighted to have the opportunity to join, saying it will benefit many Nigerian libraries.

Dr Okojie is currently a lecturer with the University of Abuja in the Department of Library and Information Science.
